Judge halts Phase IV gas price controls for most dealers
UPI report states a federal judge suspended Phase IV price caps set to take effect August 31. The ruling targets 165,000 brand name service stations, with the Cost of Living Council and Justice Department planning appeals to stay the injunction. Judge Parker found Phase IV arbitrary as it singled out small retailers. The suit, led by the Petroleum Dealers Congress, cites potential severe economic injury if the ceiling remains.
