Dr. William Kucera and Dr. John Merritt announce the creation of a Medical Care Foundation to set standards for health insurance, oversee quality and costs, and run a local claims office. The concept, first developed in 1954 in San Joaquin County, has spread to most states with foundations in many regions.

Cabrillo High Band Schedules Auditions and Tours
Cabrillo High School marching Conquistadores invite Cabrillo students to audition for the band as they prepare for a busy year. The 95 auditioned members will perform at the USC Oregon State game and march at seven parades including Disneyland and Santa Rosa. Director Glen Newcomb urges attendance at pre season rehearsals August 28 29 and 31 with auditions on Friday September. Students unable to attend may audition in the first week of school.
