Mormons Build Vast Genealogy Vaults For Work Of The Dead
The Mormon Church stores millions of feet of microfilm in granite caverns above Little Cottonwood Canyon to preserve pre 1900 birth death and marriage records from 35 nations and all states. Vaults with blast doors hold rows of film rolls and prints as part of a genealogy program linked to temple rites and proxy ordinances for ancestors.
