Single Parents Host Party for Children at Nojoqui Falls

Lompoc and Santa Maria groups joined the Single Parents With Preteen Children for an outing Sunday at Nojoqui Falls Park. Eight adults and 21 children from Lompoc plus 15 adults and 25 children from Santa Maria attended. Next Sunday August 22 a birthday party for all with birthdays through the year is planned at Pioneer Park Recreation Center Pine Ave and North Fourth St gathering at 1 PM.reservations to Dorothy Roberts or Herb Carmel by Friday.

Kaehn Receives Philosophy Doctorate At Oregon Convocation

Howard Daniel Kaehn, son of Pete Kaehn and the late Mrs Kaehn, earned a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Oregon summer graduation convocation on August 14. Born in Lompoc and a 1958 Lompoc High School graduate, he earlier attended UC Santa Barbara. The university reported 1 446 candidates for degrees including 154 bachelors 712 master's and 1% doctoral degrees at the outdoor amphitheater ceremony.

Step to the Stars lecture at Lompoc Museum this Wednesday

Gauss presents the second science lecture demonstration titled Step to the Stars by John Denault Jr on September 8 at 7 30 p m at 200 S H St Lompoc. He is a long time public relations representative with General Telephone Co of California and a former Oxnard Jaycee leader. The event includes a moon voyage using Apollo era design communications and a glimpse of space trial experiences for attendees. The August exhibit corner features plant life resprouting after La Purisima brush fires and displays of early wireless experiments donated by Commander Thomas Appleby. Beadwork classes continue Saturdays with Juanita Centeno and sales of finished items at the museum office.
