California to sell 150 million in revenue notes to cover payroll

State Treasurer Ivy Baker Priest announced the sale of 150 million dollars in revenue anticipation notes to private lenders to prevent cash shortfalls for payroll and bills. Citing Gov. Reagan, the legislature authorized up to 648 million in notes repayable from future tax receipts, with notes dated Aug 26 and maturing Nov 15 at roughly 3 percent interest.

Avalanche blocks search for four climbers near Whitehorse

RCMP halted rescue efforts for four U S climbers buried in an August avalanche 225 miles west of Whitehorse Yukon due to ongoing snow and rock avalanche risks. Tropical low over Florida heads northeast toward Georgia border

A tropical low lingering over Florida moves northeast toward the Georgia South Carolina edge and is forecast to strengthen to storm intensity after moving offshore.
