Younger generation wins historical dress awards at Pioneer Days

Winners from the younger generation wore pioneer costumes and claimed best historical costumes at a Lions Inn breakfast during Pioneer Days in Lompoc. Pete Kammerer won the men’s category in a candy-striped coat and straw hat, while Mrs. Stanley Golab won the women’s in a navy blue dress.

Britain deploys 600 more troops to Belfast amid riots

Prime Minister Harold Wilson ordered British combat units into Belfast to end four days of Protestant Catholic rioting. Four U S Bases Hit as Vietnam War Campaign Rages

In Cambodia border fighting, North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces attacked four U S bases, with 2 200 enemy dead reported. American losses included 35 attackers killed and 18 wounded, plus seven Americans dead in a helicopter downing.
