Rezoning hearing eyed for motorized recreation area
The County Planning Commission will hear a rezoning request by Split Pea Anderson's of Buellton to convert parts of the Bazzi agricultural preserve along U.S. 101 south of the Santa Ynez River from general agricultural to highway commercial. County officials caution the riverbottom site may host motorbike use rather than a racetrack and require removal from the preserve with penalties. A 16 year old girl identified as Vickie Rucker of Lompoc was found dazed and incoherent and is hospitalized with head and face injuries. Police traced a wrecked motorcycle at a field near Central and O Streets and noted two unidentified men moved the girl to Lompoc Hospital earlier.
