The Boy Scouts of America apologized to the Japanese American Citizens League after a joke by Bob Hope at the Jamboree West opening session used the term Jap. Alden Barber spoke to Ben Nakagawa in Seattle and asked that the apology reach Seattle Scout Troop 53 of the Japanese Baptist Church. Ward Grant noted the script intended Hope to say Japanese.
