Lompoc Ruth 15s Fall to SoCal All Stars in Doubleheader

SoCal from El Segundo defeated Lompoc 10-0 in game one and 4-2 in game two at Brawley’s Lions Field. El Segundo’s bats exploited Lompoc errors as NorCal’s Steve McMillan allowed 10 runs the opener, while Bob Vargas held Lompoc to four in the nightcap.

Hervey Takes Big Second in Nebraska National Jr Olympics

Cabrillo High sophomore George Hervey placed second in the 98 pound division at the National Junior Olympics in Lincoln Nebraska. He defeated Brodine of Florida Glenn of New Jersey and Morris of Wisconsin before losing 0-4 to Farina of Illinois in the final. Coach Dave Long called him one of Cabrillo’s most consistent freestyle wrestlers. The meet is one of three national mat wrestle-offs.
