A city council committee outlines a single gross receipts based tax for all fixed-location businesses in Lompoc with increases from 30 to 200 dollars for minimum and maximum fees. The plan adds a fiscal year license cycle, higher delinquency charges, refunds, and exemptions for age and certain trades.
Sheriff deputy proposes that the girl was stabbed to death at the scene on Gresco Quarry Road after a struggle on the roadside. He notes blood near the edge, drag marks, a bound wrist with plastic cord, and a later autopsy cites multiple stab wounds. Lompoc Police are investigating a hit and run at Ocean Avenue and H Street yesterday. Ernest J. Keister a 21 year old from Vandenberg AFB was eastbound when another vehicle turning from South H onto East Ocean struck the right rear of his car. The other driver stopped briefly then left after viewing damage. The hit and run car is described as a 1966 dark blue Pontiac GTO. No injuries and minor damage reported.
Seven people injured in a two car collision at Route 246 and La Purisima Road near Lompoc. Paramedics took all to Lompoc Hospital. condition reported good next day. Timothy J. Martin, 16, and Oswald Iverson, 69, reported drivers, both seriously hurt along with five passengers. Investigating CHP said weather and road factors are not yet confirmed.
