Viet Cong Attack Hits Cam Ranh Bay Hospital Ward

Viet Cong commandos infiltrated Cam Ranh Bay base near Saigon and bombed wards housing wounded GIs. Two Americans were killed and 57 wounded as fighting lasted about 30 minutes. The assault followed a bombing in Cholon that killed eight and injured about 60 at a South Vietnamese military school.

Area CAP youths honored for aviation study in Lompoc and Vandenberg

Fourteen Lompoc area youths and four from Vandenberg Civil Air Patrol Squadron 101 received awards for nearly three months of aviation study. Cadets Karl Lopez John Croas Dennis Lopez and Michael Allen earned promotions while others from Lompoc earned achievement ribbons. Base cadets Robert Gill Gary Farmer Dave Robertson and Ed Gill completed courses including Introduction to Airspace Navigation Weather and Aircraft in Flight. The squadron meets Tuesdays and contact details are provided for those interested.

Legislature stalls over taxes and school aid in California
