Everlyt candles create a birthday misfire in Lompoc party

Paula Jo Daly celebrated her seventh birthday at home on Jupiter Avenue with friends in a pink and blue theme. The candles allegedly relit after blowing out, blamed on a new type called ever lit, while guests enjoyed clown games and a bridge tournament announced by the Lompoc Recreation Department.

Debutantes invited to Christmas ball at Vandenberg Air Force Base

Traveling birthday cake shares rounds in Vandenberg Village

A birthday cake has appeared at three gatherings in Vandenberg Village. The cake, first given to Virginia Kain of 321 W North Ave, later drew attention at Clifford Phillips birthday party at 3977 Constellation Drive. Neighbors and friends including Gerald and Helen Hissom and Earl Panner attended. The cake was kept in the freezer between appearances and candles were added for each celebration.

Tales of Hoffman staged by Music Academy in Santa Barbara

The Music Academy of the West presents The Tales of Hoffman in Santa Barbara from August 16 to 20 with William Cochran and Patrick Calleo in the title roles. Guest performers join the cast under Maurice Abravanel with Martial Singher directing, English translation, and large vocal requirements. Lompoc youths Robert Manfrina Danny Grossi and Billy Grossi met in Subic Bay Philippines after disembarking from the U S S Hector. Manfrina son of Walter and Mrs Manfrina of Floradale Avenue spotted friends as they arrived home aboard the U S S Kitty Hawk after five days R and R in Hong Kong.

Sweet Adelines honor Rubensteins with moving party

The Lou Rubenstein couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary with a combined anniversary and farewell party at Mission Hills Recreation Center. They will relocate to Philadelphia after four years in Lompoc as GE transfers. Local and out of town guests attended, with decorations centered on daisies and streamers while gifts included a pitch pipe for Mrs. Rubenstein and a box of goodies for Mr. Rubenstein.

Family marks long vacation and double celebration

Mr and Mrs T E Moore of 4067 Polaris returned from Uniontown Pennsylvania where they attended the golden wedding anniversary of Mrs Browns parents Mr and Mrs OC Brown. The trip included a May homeward journey with son and daughter in law Thomas Moore of Santa Maria and daughter and family Sgt and Mrs LA Wilcox Jr of Mission Hills plus son Ronald. The group covered 9000 miles through 28 states with a Alabama stop to visit paternal grandparents. They later visited Providence Rhode Island with Wilcoxs, returned via Canada and San Francisco where Ron joined a junior bowling tournament. A visit to Fountain Valley with Alan Beaty involved surfing sailing and baseball.
