Foes of aid to blacks challenged by new study findings
The Potomac Associates report notes that opposition to government aid for blacks comes not from Archie Bunker type urban whites but from higher income, white collar, Western, small town, and conservative groups. The study, based on a 1976 Gallup survey, highlights clerical workers, small towns, and rural residents as leading critics. Also, Air Force officials say Col. Robert Rodee was fired as commander of the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing after an accident in June killed a trooper and destroyed an $8 million fighter aircraft.
