South wins fourth straight in Boys' Club Classic

South county football All-Stars beat North countymen 19 14 at Huyck Stadium. Danny Jimenez scored the decisive 16 yard TD with 7 17 left as Carpinteria QB Bob Gonzales connected for 160 yards passing and Tony Garibay 24 yard TD. North led early then South improved defense with key plays, while North coach Will Stensland praised the players.

Yale coach wins 40-49 decathlon at AAU Masters

Bruce Hescock a 40 year old Yale assistant track coach earned a 5987 point age group record to win the 40 49 division at the National AAU Masters Decathlon defeating Jake Coss of Santa Barbara Cass was runner up with 5975 points. Pete Fetter won the 50 59 division with 3722 points and Bud Deacon took 60 plus with 3849 points.
