Retirement party for Jasper and Elsa Wygal in Lompoc

A Sunday garden retirement party in Lompoc honored Jasper Wygal, longtime Jasper's Cocktail Lounge operator, and his wife Elsa. About 100 guests enjoyed music, Irish songs, and dancing as family and friends celebrated their 40 years in town.

Lompoc Girls Club Plans August Camp and Activities

Six members and executive director Linda Courtemache prepare to join YMCA for a Lake Sequoia camp trip. The Girls Club calendar includes Tuesday to Friday hours 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and biweekly swim 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the municipal pool.

Donlon Silver Wedding Anniversary Celebrated at Elks Lodge

John and Jane Donlon marked their fifty years of marriage with 140 guests at the Elks Lodge on July 21. The celebration featured a champagne fountain, a barbecued beer dinner, and dancing to The Lamplighters until 1:30 a.m. Relatives and friends, including Denise Donlon Gunter and Barbara Holt, helped decorate and serve. The couple wed July 24, 1948 in Kingman Arizona, after Navy service and life in Los Angeles and Lompoc. Their long careers included work at Johns Manville, Southern California Gas Co, Avenue Floral, Denholm Seed Co, and Badger Seeds.

Legion and Auxiliary Install Officers in Memorial Building

The American Legion Post 211 and Auxiliary Unit held their officer installations in the Veterans Memorial Building banquet room on Saturday July 28. Flag colors were posted by the 16th district color guard before Auxiliary officers were installed by Mickey Hall and assisted by Nora Evittes Ella Forney and Rosemary McIntosh. New Auxiliary officers include Jackie Molihan June Ward Lillian Johnson Kaia Hamel Ethel Brown Connie O Connor Lucy Rocha Mary Jean Beard and Leona Ford. Legion officers installed by Andy Kotik and team include George Ward Robert Paulsen Oscar Vaughn Harry Jones Ralph Matis Leslie McIntosh Ed Seiffert Harley Craig Ken O Connor Joe Rocha and Bill Proud with Benjamin Brown receiving a pin and Ward a heavy duty gavel.

Rebekah Lodge 408 hosted a district meeting in Lompoc with 91 members present. Mrs. Lenore Wind of Naomi Rebekah Lodge 2 Truckee served as guest of honor, with seven assembly officers attending from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles.
