Marines abolish platoon over recruit beating death
The Marine Corps disbands the motivation platoon after the death of Pvt. Lynn McClure McClure a 20 year old recruit from Texas who died from brain injuries after a pugil stick fight. Brig Gen David Twomey cited the death as a factor and says troubled recruits will receive intensive counseling within regular units.
