Stanford Mansion could become state park again in bid
The Stanford family home near the California Capitol may be bought back by the state to restore its 1870 era grandeur as part of a state park system. The Roman Catholic diocese currently uses the mansion as a girls' residence and counseling center, with plans to relocate. AB183 seeks 951000 to purchase and refurbish the 44 room landmark, estimated at 576000, plus 375000 for restoration per a 1971 Parks study. The project would showcase Stanford history and governors from 1850 to 1900.
