Lompoc wastewater project updates alter costs and scope
The city filed plans for the 12 million Lompoc Valley Regional Wastewater System with the State Water Quality Control Board as of this month. New state requirements add recharge basins and wells and an infiltration analysis, raising costs from 8.6 to 12 million with 87.5 percent grant aid possible. Local share stands around 3,025 split among Lompoc Vandenberg Village and Mission Hills utilities.

House panel orders Nixon to surrender 42 Watergate tapes
By a 344 vote the House Judiciary Committee gave Nixon five more days to respond to a subpoena for 42 tapes totaling 1,600 minutes of conversations from 1973. The panel plans to drop up to 30 charges and focus on criminal wrongdoing leading to impeachment.
