Trailerites visited Los Padres National Forest for a weekend trailer outing hosted by Walt and Eleanor Livingston. The Red Cross calls for volunteers to assist long term care patients at Lompoc Hospital. Two morning shifts provide reading letter writing games and conversation plus feeding help. Results from April 12 to 17 show North South winners John Turnbull with Norbert Baumgarten and other top pairs including Cleone Stoor Jo Gowenlock Mary Louise Wallace and Elmo Swinnen. East West leaders Ruth Roberts and Herschel Roberts with multiple contenders. Regular games noted at Alpha Clubhouse and Vandenberg Officer’s Club with multiple weekly sessions.
Floresta 4 H Club offers international bicycle safety triangles as a fund raising project endorsed by public safety officials. Each 5% inch red fluorescent triangle costs $1 with proceeds supporting the National 4 H Foundation and local causes. Sold Saturday in front of Pico's Sporting Goods and Western Store 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and April 23 28 at Holmdahl's Farm Supply office in Miguelito Canyon 8 a.m. to 5 30 p.m.
About 300 officers wives and guests attended the annual Military Ball at the Officers Open Mess. The event featured a grand march led by Major Generals Felices and Lowe, color posting, and color coordinated blue and silver decor. Guests included Santa Barbara and Santa Maria officials and local military affairs committees.
