Alpha Club wins district awards at Tierra Adorada gathering

Lompoc Alpha Club collected three sweepstakes awards nine first places five second places and one third place at the 14th annual Tierra Adorada District California Federated Women's Club convention in Santa Barbara over three days. They sponsored decor for the luncheon and publicized Lompoc events while district officers and delegates were elected and appointed for the coming year and national and state conventions planned.

Official visit of Maude Shobe to Miguelito Chapter OES

Maude Shobe, deputy grand matron of the 54th district, attended the Eastern Star visit at Miguelito Chapter. Irene Coats welcomed her as East, with Lee Elder as Worthy Patron. Lois Godden organized decor and refreshments were provided by local officers and guests from Cambria and Santa Maria.

Sorority officers elected in Central California area council

Mrs. William Sumter was elected president of the Central California Area Council Beta Sigma Phi with officers including Mrs. Russell Doty as vice president and Mrs. Marvin Nottbohm as treasurer after a Saturday luncheon in Lompoc. Alpha Alpha Rho hosted, Theta Psi San Luis Obispo won the ticket sales contest, benefiting the Cistic Fibrosis Fund. A later Alpha Rho meeting named new chapter officers. Dr Loretta Elliott spoke on cancer prevention and urged regular checkups for women.

The company touts flexible staffing, no fringe benefits for clients, and international offices. Cass, honored for ten years of service, recalls a long boom year in 1966 when she doubled her quota and earned a top award.

Los Berros Pupils Entertain Hospital Patients

Los Berros Elementary School fourth through sixth graders entertained long term care patients at Lompoc Hospital with a program of vocal and instrumental music and dance. The event was sponsored by Hospital Cheer chairman Mrs. Seymour Okun. Performers included Laura Doty on piano, Pat Sauls on guitar and voice, Catherine Aguayo and Andrea Mayer in a pantomime, Carolyn Norris on piano, ventriloquist Richard Reynolds, and performers Lauri Crossman and Lynne Dianna Vance singing April Showers.

Indian Princesses host family picnic at Ryan Park

On April 12 the Zuni Tribe hosted the Okizu Indian Princesses Nation spring picnic at Ryan Park. Representatives from Cachuma Mohave Canalino Shawnee and Zuni joined games led by Gene Doud of the Lompoc YMCA, including sack races three legged races wheelbarrow contests and a balloon toss with prizes awarded to Shawn Warren and Buddy Craft.
