Military changes pregnancy rules and Capt Susan Struck case
Air Force and Navy revise rules after Capt Susan Struck fight to stay in service post birth. Changes allow quick abortions to remain active if desired, reentry within 12 months after discharge, and automatic active-duty status if childbirth occurs before action. Struck remains on duty via court order as her case goes to the 9th Circuit. A North Dakota transfer to Minot is labeled permanent, with possible reassignment if she wins. A separate New York ad from 49 Army First Cavalry soldiers urges antiwar marches on April 24.

Assembly panel backs UC and state college pay raises
A California Assembly subcommittee endorsed a $68.67 million package of salary and fringe benefit increases for University of California and state college instructors. The bill, sponsored by Ken Meade, would raise UC faculty by 13 percent with 4 percent fringe, and state college teachers by 19 percent with 6 percent fringe. UC President Hitch supported the measure, warning against losing top staff, and Gov Reagan has proposed no increases in the 1971-72 budget.
