Desert rattlesnakes warn Easter Week desert campers
Desert visitors headed to Southern California during Master Week were told poisonous Mojave green rattlesnakes are active early this year. Bureau of Land Management biologist Donald Wheeler noted a three foot green Mojave rattler found by children in a woodpile and warned Easter Week campers to be vigilant. He called the venom a triple threat attacking blood nerves and heart and advised antivenom tailored for this species. Wheeler belongs to the Mojave Desert Anti Venom League which keeps 24 hour on call teams for bites.
