County balks at paying for city off street parking plan

The county opposes a proposed 93 000 yearly assessment for 10 years to fund Santa Barbara City Off Street Parking District revenues. County Supervisor Charles Catterlin warned of possible court action if the city council approves the plan. He argued the levy would tax county funds without representation and noted county properties would be assessed. The county voted to oppose the assessment, while the district defends charging county buildings and users who benefit from the city lots and garage near the Courthouse.
