Reagan says Supreme Court stay enables California welfare cuts
Gov. Ronald Reagan says the high court stay allowing temporary welfare cuts will save California taxpayers as much as 7 million dollars a month. The move targets about 500000 AFDC recipients with outside income while excluding two thirds deemed truly needy. The ruling follows a December state Supreme Court decision and a federal stay pending appeal by Attorney General Evelle Younger.
