Oil issues mount before county board in Goleta Valley plan talks

The county seeks a petroleum engineer successor after David K. Bickmore's resignation. Eighteen applicants from across five states are proposed by Third District Supervisor Daniel G. Parks Department resumes mail reservations for state campgrounds

Swigert Praised as Apollo 13 Master in Space Agency View

Dr. Thomas Paine lauds John L. Swigert as having unmatched command of the Apollo 13 spacecraft and says he literally wrote the book on handling problems. Separately, Kenneth Baker of Powhatan Point testifies he moonshined to support seven dependents after a coal mine shutdown, receiving two years probation for possession of a still and producing distilled spirits.

Santa Barbara County Planning Commission Public Hearing Notice

The Santa Barbara County Planning Commission will hold a 1:45 p m hearing on April 22 1970 in Room 17 to consider Leo and Delena Gnesa requests 70-AP-11 and 70-RZ-23. The action requests create an Agricultural Preserve under the California Land Conservation Act and amend Ordinance 661 to rezone parcels 99-160-35 99-170-32 and 99-210-01 near Drum Canyon Road Lompoc for agricultural preservation. Claim filed against sheriff in murder case

A claim totaling 752 025 dollars is filed against the county and sheriff over the death of theatrical director Robert B. Sinclair. Heather Angel Sinclair and Anthony Sinclair allege the sheriff's department failed to keep violent suspect Billy McCoy Hunter in custody. Hunter stabbed Sinclair Jan 3 at Sinclair's Montecito home. he had prior arrests and was released before the fatal incident. The claim goes to the Board of Supervisors and then to county counsel and the county's insurer.
