Festival to bloom despite flood damage in Lompoc Valley
Flower fields in Lompoc Valley will still show during the June Flower Festival on June 28 and 29 as growers estimate about 825 acres in bloom despite flood delays. The event features field tours of sweet peas and other varieties, a flower parade with 14 000 dozen cut flowers, and a coronation ball with Les Brown and his Band of Renown.

Weather satellite launch planned here tonight
NASA officials announced mid morning that the Nimbus weather satellite countdown is on schedule. Plans call for the bug shaped satellite to launch between 11 53 and 12 57 tonight toward polar orbit aboard a McDonnall Douglas long tank Thor. The project aims to improve long range weather forecasting. The Nimbus carries experiments including a transmitter attached to an elk in Yosemite for wildlife tracking data relayed to ground stations.

Questionnaires seek to answer labor needs within county
Questionnaires will be sent to 800 employers in Santa Barbara County as part of the second annual drive to chart current and future labor needs. G. G. Village to Get Postal Substation in Vandenberg Village
Perry Martin, Lompoc postmaster, announces a new postal substation at 151 Vulcan Drive Vandenberg Village. Operated by Mrs Archie Nagle, the station will offer stamps, money orders, parcel mail, and pickup for undelivered items. Hours 8 am to 5 pm. The village had two earlier stations closed for various reasons.

Car Collides With Air Force School Bus At Vandenberg Gate
