Gunman in canyon home commits suicide as deputies storm compound

Valencia California. A gun man who barricaded himself inside a rustic canyon home for nearly seven hours after a gunbattle that killed four young highway patrol officers shot himself to death as deputies stormed the house. Jack Wright Twinning, 35, made a final remark about preferring death to life on death row. His accomplice was captured earlier in a stolen camper truck.

Green Beret Camp Besieged In Dak Seang Clash

Allied sources say Dak Seang near the Laos border faces a major siege by North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces. The U.S. and South Vietnamese forces have reinforced with multiple battalions as nine Air Force crewmen died in a transport and helicopter losses. Parachute drops were used to resupply the besieged defense.
