Sting Dominates 1973 Academy Awards With Seven Wins

The Sting won seven Oscars including Best Picture with George Roy Hill as director and Marvin Hamlisch winning original score. Glenda Jackson and Jack Lemmon led acting wins, while Tatum ONeal earned best supporting actress. The Exorcist collected two awards.

Kennedy Mills unveil $40 billion national health plan

Senators Kennedy and Mills propose a universal health insurance program costing about 40 billion dollars annually. It covers all Americans from birth with no income test and eliminates Medicaid while imposing a 1 percent tax on incomes up to 20 thousand plus dependent taxes. The plan includes deductibles and a catastrophic illness provision and targets a cap on annual family liability.
