First base graduate retires from Air Force after long career
Sergeant James D. Spedding, a first master degree recipient on base from Chapman College, retires after more than 21 years in the Air Force. He earned an advanced master’s in education from USC and was named Outstanding Ballistic Missile Instructor in 1963. Spedding began college in 1962, earned AA from Foothills College, a bachelor’s from Omaha, and plans a doctorate at the State University of Buffalo before returning to Lockport, New York.
