The Loganport Telegraph lists office terms and rates including one year in advance 290 cents within six months 250 cents and after expiration 300 cents. Advertising charges: one square of 10 lines for three weeks 100 cents, each additional insertion 25 cents. A liberal annual discount is offered.

An officer in a May 10 1846 letter to Providence recounts fierce action at camp and battle lines. He notes Captain Page struck down, a man with his head severed, a sergeant’s musket knocked away, and gruesome battlefield scenes. He praises General Taylor and Arista, and lauds his men for their disciplined, deadly fire and steadfast advance.
The Houston Telegraph reports Gen Taylor plans summer quarters at Monterey with the current force and volunteers joining. Monterey valley is praised as an earthly paradise with orchards and irrigation, though midsummer heat challenges Northern troops. The piece argues annexation could follow as troops spread favorable word of the region.
An American officer reports advancing troops found a wounded man requesting bread and water. Col Twigs ordered food and drink for the poor fellow, and the company promptly shared haversacks and canteens, a small act of generosity lighting the dark battlefield.
Logansport June 8 1846 message from Mrs Lasselle and N P Lasselle confirms publication of the Cass County Volunteers address. The document lists the Volunteers as they left Logansport by rail, with thanks to the Ladies of Logansport for their gift and support. The note recalls farewell sentiments from fellow townspeople and the sense of duty as they departed.
The Ladies of Logansport present a flag to the company, praising promptness to answer the country’s call and pledging honor or return. The address recalls local heroes and family military history, urging courage, protection of women, and divine blessing for safety and honor in battle.
Mapam speaks for Cass County Volunteers as he accepts a flag from the Ladies of Logansport. He praises their patriotism and vows to bear the flag in view of enemies, pledging to keep it safe at every hazard.
From Indianapolis Democrat June 12 report Captain Tipton's Cass County Volunteers arrive at noon en route to New Albany. The roster lists officers and privates with details of drill precision. The piece also notes other volunteer companies commissioned by the governor, detailing multiple counties and captains.
A March morning departure note says 1025 rations issued for 1025 men at Camp Washington with totals near 1200 in camp. The Cass county Volunteers under Capt Tipton arrived in the city en route to New Albany, praised as sterling youths bearing a flag from Logansport ladies and ready to defend it amid battle. The Ladies of the city plan to present a fine flag to the Marion Volunteers before departure.
Several congressmen, including Mr. Baker of Illinois, Mr. Simms of Missouri, and Mr. Yell of Arkansas, are said to have left or be ready to leave to raise regiments for service in Mexico.
Debuys and others escorted General La Vega to General Gaines at the St Charles Hotel. The Ladies Saloon on the first floor served as the reception room, drawing criticism for display and seeming disregard for the general's dignity. General Gaines is ordered to Washington as General Cass moves to censure him in the Senate.
