The First National Bank of Logan will purchase part of the Z C M I corner from Howell and Crawford. The bay includes a corner building of 2.5 by 0.9 feet with a three story rock structure. The bank will remodel and occupy it as a handsome banking suite, praising the valuable location.
Baker City Oregon February 18 1902 editor Logan Nation describes the town as a hub for mills of the Oregon Fiber Company and prominent Mormon families led by David Uccles and C W Nibley. He highlights local industry including timber mercantile and rail interests, the bustling lumber trade, extensive freight to nearby mines, and notable residents like the Geiser brothers who built the Bonanza mine through hardship and perseverance.
At a Logan city meeting the committee studying a municipal lighting plant reported from Springville Utah. it notes that Utah county towns are lit cheaply and recommends exploring a Logan plant. The council approved minor appropriations and ordinances, then adjourned. A special meeting Thursday enacted strict quarantine regulations for contagious diseases.
At a Wednesday session the county court accepted the new bridge over Logan river on Mendon road and appropriated 1300 dollars for payment. The court notified Lorenzo Almond’s brothers to provide him a livelihood as he is an indigent infant with deceased parents. Peter Peterson of Petersboro complained the divide road is too narrow and urged upgrades. The court discussed private land sale authority and then adjourned until March 15 after approving routine bills.
