In Columbus Ohio renewed talks between General Telephone Co officials and striking Communications Workers of America broke off early today with no contract. About 2 800 workers have been on strike since July 16 and the firm cites more than 1 million dollars in damage to cables and relay stations. A hearing before the Ohio Industrial Commission was postponed to Oct 4 pending settlement.

Boyle in coma after apparent suicide attempt before murder trial
W A Tony Boyle former head of the United Mine Workers Union remains near death after an apparent self destructive act on the eve of a court appearance on a murder conspiracy charge. The 71 year old was rushed to George Washington University Hospital after doctors suspected a stroke and was listed in very critical condition with coma. He faced a hearing to move his case to Pennsylvania for the 1969 slayings of Joseph Yablonski and his wife and daughter.

Coal Gasification Plant Site Eyed in Southeast Ohio
