The League of Nations council set a December 4 limit before hostilities start under Article XV, warning that any aggressor would be deemed at war with all members. The vote was unanimous with Italy absent, signaling a three month grace period and a tense session at Geneva.
WPA Engineer J. R. Hickey said three projects began today, employing about 55 men. The fourth project, varnishing and finishing floors at the Senior High School, was delayed awaiting more materials. Projects cover Goose Creek, Cream Ridge Road, and Campbell Stone Road. The high school floor work will begin soon.
A general court martial convened today in Cincinnati to try Colonel Hugo Rudolph commander of the wartime 147th Infantry O. N. G. on seven counts of embezzlement. Trial judge advocate Lieut Col Chalmers Parker will prosecute. charges involve a privately raised regimental fund. Counts include purchases of farm tools and use of funds to pay an automobile repair bill.
Conservation Commissioner Lawrence Woodell announced that hunting may begin early next Tuesday when the squirrel season opens. He noted that the noon opening limit recently set by the conservation council applies only to the rabbit and pheasant season starting November 15.
Charles C. Stillman, federal relief administrator for Ohio, said Hocking county relief rolls increased by 281 in August from July, with 5,692 people on relief. statewide totals fell 45,264 for August, while WPA projects began to absorb about 30,000 from dole. Expenditures for August reached 8.3 million dollars, down from July.

Hamilton county farmers and others may receive federal aid to kill rats and other rodents. County commissioners approved five projects to put jobless to work including employing 61 men for a year at a cost of 64 340 dollars.

A traveling salesman says near Gibisonville a large rattlesnake was run over by his car leaving the animal injured. He halted to check the scene but had to move his vehicle as two trucks passed. the snake vanished into the weeds before he could recover it.
The Ohio Supreme Court cleared Hamilton county to join Cuyahoga Lucas and Mahoning in voting on a county charter law. The four counties proceed under a 1933 constitutional amendment, but none plans full city county mergers. Edwin L. Strawser challenged Hamilton county's charter vote, and the court upheld the commission's action.
Miss Agnes Moening, 61, granddaughter of Delphos founder Ferdinand Brederck, died Wednesday in Delphos Ohio. She was remembered as a member of the Brederck family and a longtime resident of the city.
Senate approved measures would provide 15 million dollars for indigent care and set up a state building commission with over five million starting for a broad public building program. The bills passed the Senate and go to the House for consideration as the chamber reconvenes.
Dr P J Shaw has accepted the chairmanship of this year s Red Cross Roll Call in Hocking county succeeding Dr C F Rauch. The annual roll call starts in November with Miss Margaret Lutz serving as executive secretary of the Hocking county Red Cross chapter.
Education was the topic at the Ohio Conference Methodist Episcopal church session in Columbus. Dr W J Davidson of Chicago and Rev S Morris of Toledo led the talks as Dayton sought the 1936 conference. Delegates to the general conference will be elected starting Friday, with 12 ministerial and 12 lay delegates chosen. The Preachers Aid Society re elected Dr L I Hart of New Lexington as president, with Rev W E Bancroft of Roseville as vice-president and Rev Edward P Dean of Richmond Dale as secretary.
The Navy Department opened bids from Winton Engine Corporation of Cleveland and Hooven Owens Renthler Company of Hamilton for submarine propulsion machinery. A Chicago firm also bid. contract amounts were withheld pending award.
A large delegation of officials witnessed Logan Sparnon sworn in as a deputy U S marshal by Major Kerr in Columbus. Sparnon, formerly Hocking county deputy sheriff, is the first from Hocking county named to the federal post and will supervise a group of southeastern Ohio counties from Columbus.

The treasury department announced M. H. Hansen of Waterloo Indiana submitted the lowest bid of 42700 dollars for the construction of a new post office at Waverly.

Washington C H Ohio Sept 26 AP The local bureau of the National Reemployment Service struggles to recruit 40 harvesters for Fayette county corn. Office manager Floyd Elliott says two days of effort failed as all potential workers are employed in a general business boom. County relief chief Miss Mary Robinson says aid requests have nearly ceased.
Maine Governor Louis A. Brann said the Democratic party has an excellent chance to carry the traditionally Republican Pine Tree State next year. He noted President Roosevelt is stronger in Maine than three years ago and spoke while visiting Col. W. N. Campbell of his staff, president of the Goodall Worsted Company of Sanford Maine.
Ray Noble WPA supervisor said coal strikers can seek WPA employment if the bituminous strike continues and they meet qualifications. If the government deems the strike illegal, the men will be refused work.
The Miami Valley Mill Shippers Association reports continued improvement in the paper mill industry for August. Twenty two affiliated firms are included in the association’s monthly review.

Wage differentials and working conditions fuel the deadlock while car coal inventories are cited as easing mine owners' concerns about delays. Negotiations continued late into the night without headway on the nine cent tonnage-rate demand.

Registrar Frank B. Dilley of Ohio University predicted today that the 1930 enrollment record of 2,596 will be broken. The current figure stands at 2,316 students as of September 26.
