PUCO to Hear Rate Case In Phone Strike

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio allows Prosecutor William Ammer to join a complaint against Ohio Consolidated Telephone Co over rates charged during a strike. The case originates with the Yorkville Tiltonsville Ragland Board of Trade and includes Pickaway County service concerns. A hearing date is not yet set. Meanwhile five Ohio Consolidated supervisors were hospitalized after attacks on repair crews in Sciotoville and Portsmouth. repair trucks were damaged.

86 Year Old Logan Man Bags Two Squirrels First Day Out

Jerry Hammon aged 86 of 75 S Mulberry St bagged two squirrels on his first hunting day this season with his son Claude of 508 N Mulberry St. Claude noted the elder plans to hunt each afternoon weather allows after a day fishing last week on the Hocking River.

28 Inmates Slashed Themselves During Texas Hunger Protest

In Huntsville Texas twenty eight of the prison system's toughest inmates slashed themselves with razor blades Monday night as part of a food protest. They were among 76 inmates involved in a strike in the maximum security unit last week, according to Prison General Manager O B Ellis.

Truck Upset Injures Hocking Man on W Front Street

A New Plymouth man received cuts to the head and right arm after a coal truck with a broken axle overturned on W Front Street at 6:15 p.m. The driver Harry R. Hardesty 46 was treated and later released. Fire crews contained spilled fuel and oil. A second minor crash on Calico Ridge Road involved Robert Eugene Holdren 29 Masillon who steered into a ditch to avoid a head on collision.

Surviving Tisdale Family Marks Adelphi Elder's Death

Adelphi Ohio resident John Tisdale 95 died at home after an eight month illness. He leaves 120 direct descendants including wife Virginia who died in 1952 and children Odd Katherine Bess Loie sister Laura Lang two dozen grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. Prosecutor E Raymond Morehart says the Fairfield County grand jury will hear a few more witnesses today as its three day probe into the deaths of Dr Joseph A Geers two wives nears completion. Twenty seven witnesses appeared during the hearings with autopsy attributing Jeane Geer s death to a rheumatic heart condition and Constance Geer s death to drug intoxication.

Model Of Earth Satellite On Display

The Navy unveiled a full scale model of the first man made satellite to circle earth for space research. The 20 inch sphere weighs about 21 pounds packed with miniature instruments and four long radio aerials. It will launch during the International Geophysical Year starting July 1 and reach 300 miles up at 18 000 mph. A two week life span and atmospheric burn up are predicted.

Lady pilot flies off course in Corpus Christi misadventure

Miss Ingar Eliasson a 35 year old waitress who recently learned to fly attempted a 150 mile trip from San Antonio to Corpus Christi. After six and a half hours she landed at West Port Airfield between Eagle Pass and Laredo about 150 miles from her destination and 90 degrees off course. She said her compass did not fail but she did.
