The Logan post office reports many residents sending letters with small square stickers reading Keep U. S. Out of War Be Neutral. The stamps reflect widespread sentiment amid European hostilities and public debate in the community.
Robert Price Bruce Price William Knapp and Dale Engle former Logan High School band members are admitted to membership at Ohio University where they enrolled as freshmen. The band will debut at the Ohio University Morris Harvey game in Ohio Stadium this Saturday.
Several Hocking County fox hunters plan to enter dogs in the fourth annual field trials to be held Saturday and Sunday September 30 and October 1 at the Pike County Fish and Game Protective Association clubhouse two miles west of Waverly off State Route 550.

More than 400 Eagles from Logan district attended the statewide homecoming for John Abel national worthy president in Marion. The parade featured Logan High band James Horwell 22 bands and drum corps lasting over two hours. Gov Bricker Conrad Mann national officers spoke on the program and Logan Athens Nelsonville Pomeroy Glouster Corning Jacksonville Shawnee and Murray City were represented.
Rev. Father James T. Nevin departed Sunday for a two week stay in New York. Rev. Father Reilly of Columbus will lead St. John's Catholic Church in his absence. Nevin was accompanied to Columbus by Miss Cleo Haley Russell Montgomery Rev. Fr. Reilly and Mrs. Kathryn Callahan.
Ethel M. Dell author of The Hundredth Chance Great Heart and The Lamp in the Desert died yesterday in a Hertfordshire nursing home. She was married in 1922 to Lieut. Col. G. T. Savage.
Friends of Senators Borah and Nye predicted to day they would seek to align Senate Republicans as a group against President Roosevelt's proposal to repeal the embargo on arms shipments to warring nations. Close associates said the move aimed for an endorsement from a majority at Washington. Roosevelt invited Alf Landon and Frank Knox to a White House parley where leaders will discuss America's neutrality program.
Borah and Nye argue for retaining the embargo while opposing arms sales to France and Britain. They contend repeal would aid allies and curb German armament, but face opposition from AustIn and Taft who back repeal. Supporters warn against partisanship influencing neutrality policy.
Delaware County sheriff Merton F. Pinney started for the Franklin County jail on official business but was taken into custody by a city officer for speeding 62 mph. He signed his own bond in municipal court and was set for a Wednesday hearing.

Funeral services tomorrow for Dr. George Frederick Arps 65 dean of OSU graduate school who died Saturday of myeloma. He joined the OSU faculty in 1912 and served as dean of the college of education from 1920 to 1927.
A tavern gun battle near Paintsville Kentucky killed four men, including owner Sambo Nelson and Deputy Sheriff Fred Adams, with the violence stemming from a mountain vengeance dispute. Sambo Nelson's wife and son were wounded as 45 shots were fired. The same dispatch reports Columbus Secretary of State Earl Griffith rejecting civil service referendum petitions citing about 6,000 invalid names and a court restraining order.
Huntington, Sept 18 AP The Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad will employ an additional 300 men in its shops at Huntington, effective Oct 7, increasing total force to 1,500 workers due to greatly increased coal loadings.
A bean lodged in the lung caused the death of Larry Garey year old son of Mr and Mrs Raymond Garey of New Lexington in a local hospital yesterday.

Russell Watts, 33, blinded by dust, walked into two racing cars at Columbus state fairgrounds. Earl Besser, 25, killed when his gravel truck was struck by a Baltimore and Ohio train at Mount Vernon. Edward Woods, 28, died in Cleveland when a car crashed into a tree. Naomi Knnsely, 21, died in a Columbus motorcycle accident.
Cincinnati news reports Elmer Hughes a 25 year old bartender died from the drink he prepared for himself and three others in a medicine cabinet incident.

Forty thousand acres of forest land fell under Ohio Division of Forestry supervision following five years of development by the U S Department of Agriculture. The Zaleski Forest dedication revealed 19 000 acres at Zaleski 14 000 near Chillicothe and 4 800 near Zanesville.
