Governor Davey withdraws opposition to a plan to finance old age pensions in the last four months of the year and would propose an allotment of 1,000,000 dollars from the general revenue. Representative Harry Wright of Hocking County left Columbus to attend the special session of the Ohio legislature.
The session could extend pension payments to over 527 people for the rest of 1934. It may provide relief to relieve Hocking county from the direct relief crisis by aiding the unemployable portion of its 1264 relief cases.
The article states 81,000 pensioners will be aided by funds and the remaining 5,000,000 needed will come from liquor profits of the state monopoly system. Building Up will be a major topic for a special legislative session convening at 1 30 pm. Governor Davey will address a joint session tonight and the legislature will face financing a 20,900,000 state program.
William M. Morgan, 65, of Newark Ohio, former congressman from the 17th Ohio district and former president of the Ohio Federation of Labor, died after a four day battle with heart disease. He served 1921 to 1931 on the Ohio Industrial Commission after resigning as labor head.
Sales tax in Hocking County rose this week with $1,544.12 remitted to the state, lifting the county total to $48,522.87. The week’s gain surpasses last week’s $1,508.79, while statewide collections reached $902,822.49 this period and $30,380,573.36 statewide.

President Roosevelt is expected to ask Congress for a six point forest conservation program. In a letter to Senator Fletcher the President said the plan would round out existing laws with new provisions to create an organic basis for the next ten to fifteen years. He noted the need for public acquisition of lands and related measures.
Decisions of the U S and Ohio Supreme Courts declare compulsory code features of the NRA and the Ohio Recovery Act unconstitutional. The rulings invalidate the entire Ohio Recovery Act and its Trade Code Administration division. John Cintak, 66, began another hunger strike in Steubenville Ohio and recently ended a 20 day fast by overeating and requiring hospital care. He is awaiting trial on a liquor charge.
CHARDON Ohio September 18 AP Ed gar Biggs of Youngstown and Floyd K lessner of Youngstown were re arrested as they left county jail after a sentence for intoxication. They are charged with removing a fire extinguisher ignition key and tearing out wires from Deputy Sheriff R A Fenton s car while being transported last July.
Anna Clark Smith, a Black resident of Jeffersonville, died yesterday within 20 days of her 102nd birthday. She was Fayette County's oldest resident.
Dr L E Bracken of Columbus Indiana said at the American Association of orificial surgeons meeting that Dillinger’s sex appeal drew women, spurred bank robberies, and shootings to “show off” before them. He urged prenatal care and treating convicts as sick people rather than violators.
Donald Davis, a bachelor living alone in Marion Ohio, faced three burglaries in as many weeks, each night leaving his apartment empty of groceries and food supplies. Police investigated but details and suspects remained unclear as neighbors reported strange activity around the building.

Stanley Sparnon former Hocking County deputy sheriff will take the oath of office as deputy U S Marshal from Judge Benson Hough on September 26 at 10 a.m. in the Columbus federal courtroom. Named by U S Marshal Major R Kenneth Kerr he becomes the first Hocking County native to hold the federal post and will oversee southeastern Ohio including Hocking Perry Fairfield and Athens counties.
Chicago police hold Fred Schneider and alien Herbert Leith after Toledo police report Schneider escaped Mansfield Reformatory. He admitted sawing his cell bars with a hacksaw smuggled from the reformatory workshop in 1934.
