Twelve Crewmen Rescued From Storm Wrecked Ship
Twelve crewmen were rescued from the stricken British steamer Leicester in the mid Atlantic about 400 miles southwest of Cape Race Newfoundland. The Leicester carrying 42 crew was abandoned en route from London to New York. The rescue was reported by the American vessel S S Cecil N Bean after radio contact with S S Trapezo. The Coast Guard confirmed the rescue and noted the scene lay near the center of the hurricane path.

Motorist Arrested After East Front Street Crash
Joseph Vaughn Carter age 25 of New Plymouth Route 1 was charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash early today on East Front Street. His car hit the rear of a truck driven by Chester Eugene Appleman 35 of Logan, then struck the Roy F. Bowers porch at 692 East Front Street. Carter was treated for facial injuries and jailed for arraignment before Mayor Roger W. Friend.

Trailer Camp Fire Kills Three Persons

Harold Jinks a 33 year old Laurelville construction worker was wounded on Wednesday evening while squirrel hunting on his mother in law Mrs Chloe Wiggins farm near Buena Vista. An unidentified hunter fired his shotgun striking Jinks in the chest face and lungs before fleeing. He walked to Mrs Wiggins home then was hospitalized first at Berger and then White Cross in Columbus in serious condition.
