A morning blaze damaged two adjacent Rockbridge barns, one owned by Frank Holland with 2500 plus 200 contents value and another owned by Wayne Wharton with 1000 plus 300 lumber. Logan and Sugar Grove fire crews responded at 5 25 a m, extinguishing after about ninety minutes.
Mrs Sue Boswell Sturgill says Jackson County Sheriff Trago's office made no effort to identify her Sunday attackers. She claims Deputy Wemeldorf reported her burns inaccurately and accuses Trago's lawyers of pressuring her and her mother. She denies taking sides in county controversy while stating she was assaulted near home and burned with a cigarette.
West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer pressed for cabinet backing of his Moscow agreement to establish diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. He faces Bundestag ratification and Soviet Presidium approval as East German leaders move to Moscow in a signal of Soviet moves to reassure East Germans amid questions of a divided Germany. A 16 year old Starr and another youth were taken into custody by Juvenile Court officer Ralph Blum on shoplifting charges at G C Murphy Co and Risch's drug store in Logan. The youth confessed to taking eight ballpoint pens a screw driver set of wrenches and a stapler and binoculars. All items were recovered and the case will be disposition next week.
Five Michigan youths aged 15 to 27 died when a car and a truck trailer collided head on near Toledo on U S 25 one mile north of the city limits. Victims were Richard Millstead 27 Flint Lawrence Millstead 21 Hilda Henderson 17 Nancy Mackay 15 and William Bennet 17 all of Pontiac. The truck driver Guy Bullock 44 Kirkersville escaped with minor injuries.
Emma Gatewood 67 of Gallipolis Ohio, believed first woman to hike 1500 miles to Maine, rested overnight at Carry Pond Camp near Bingham Maine after knee trouble. She plans to continue toward her Maine destination, still within 100 miles.
Mrs. Dorothy Solomon, 28, of Salem and mother of three, died of polio yesterday at Youngstown hospital,Officials reported.
Illiopolis farmer Walter Beck reports his Hampshire sow Susie gave birth to 22 piglets, 12 in one day and 10 five days later. He feeds the litter with cow’s milk from a bottle as the sow cannot nurse them all.
Hocking County reports 1448 hunting licenses issued on opening day. Carpenter Hardware Co. sold 385 licenses, Saving Hardware 325, with additional nonresident permits issued by the clerk of courts. Wet weather could end season to prevent fires as reports of abundant squirrels arise.
The Texas Supreme Court will hear arguments on a key school segregation case affecting Big Spring and the Texas Citizens Council. State funds may not be used for integration under current laws unless courts void them or the legislature changes them. The attorney general argues Texas laws bind districts until voided.

Patrolman Charles Whyte reported 28 percent of 55 school buses in the county showed minor defects after inspections Monday through Wednesday. Defective buses included 10 of East Hocking 21, two of West Hocking 22, three of Starr Washington 9, and one of Logan 3. Buses requiring repairs must be fixed and a work record sent to the Athens highway patrol post.
In Preble County the Bowman deaths from a Sept 4 wreck near West Alexandria are now treated as a possible murder. Harold Bowman 49 died from a shotgun wound behind the left eye and Maybelle 47 may have died from strangulation. Their foster son Kenneth 17 survived the fire and remains hospitalized. Authorities, including Everett Kahrenholz and Sheriff Floyd Spitler, said autopsies were performed and further tests, with psychiatrists, are planned.

The ILA accepts a voluntary fact finding committee to hear grievances against the Waterfront Commission, while employers prepare a $10 million damages lawsuit and a contempt citation heads to court on Sept 22.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 10 am in South Perry Cemetery for the stillborn infant son of David and Frances Hambel Shepherd of near South Perry. Survivors include the Shepherds two other sons.
The CIO Communications Workers warns 16 000 Ohio Bell workers would walk off at 6 a m tomorrow unless a new contract is agreed on. Ohio Bell says strike threat illegal and claims 60 day notice was not given.
Funeral services for Elijah Thurman Harden aged 89 were held at Heinlein Funeral Home at 2 p m today with Rev Otto Stolzenburg officiating. A Hocking County native, Harden died Monday at Newark City Hospital. Music was provided by Albert Blick Richard Price and Carl Spence. burial followed at Ewing Cemetery.
