Firefighters responded to a 12 28 a m blaze on Ohio 216 near Buchtel gutting the kitchen and family room of the Oakley residence. A family dog died from smoke inhalation and investigators未 yet determined the cause as four regular and 14 volunteer firefighters fought the flames until about 3 a m.
EMS records show Anna Kuhn 66 of Rockbridge Route 1 moved to HVCH at 11 23 p m Friday for illness. At 6 39 a m Saturday Erma Jones 82 of 600 Oak Street was also taken to HVCH for treatment.
Nelsonville York and TrimbleGlouster battled to a scoreless tie on Buckeye field. NY led in rushing with Mike Beech 65 yards on 21 carries while NY had six first downs and Trimble four. Both teams intercepted a pass.
Melinda Gerken and Jeff Bazell led Open Class poultry with 17 and 16 blue ribbons at the Hocking County Fair. Winners include multiple breeds across chickens ducks geese and turkeys with numerous first place awards earned by several residents and families.
Frank Morgan, sports information director at Ohio University for 12 years, will speak at the Logan Rotary Club winter dinner at Blosser's Restaurant at 6 p.m. Monday. His talk covers Football 1974 at Ohio University. Morgan, a Willoughby native and Miami University graduate, has a background with the Cleveland Press UPI and Middletown Journal and has earned multiple sports writing honors.
Mrs. William R. Fowler 77 of 833 James Road dies at Hocking Valley Community Hospital. Born June 17 1897 in Hocking County she belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church. Survived by husband William R a daughter Donna McDaniel of Jacksonville Fla. Funeral at Leonard Lyke Funeral Home 11 a m Tuesday with Rev R W Faulkner. burial Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation after 7 Sunday night and Monday afternoon and evening.
Two Logan drivers were cited by city police Friday. Kathryn J. Carpenter, 33, of 466 St., was cited at 10:38 p.m. for rec uperation on N. Walnut St. James D. Goodlive, 19, of 660 E. Second St., was cited at 8:34 p.m. for speed for conditions on N. Market St. Both are scheduled to appear in mayor's court at 10 a.m. Sept. 21.
Sam Berardi of Columbus told the Hocking County sheriff that his Buckeye Road residence was entered Friday afternoon. Locks were pried from the house and attached shed and items missing include a power lawn mower six quarts of motor oil mercury outside light flare gun and a tool box full of tools.
A one car crash on Snake Hollow Road near Nelsonville injures three people. Nancy Martins, 17, Avon Lake, was treated and released at Mount St. Mary Hospital. Passenger Michael P. Steel, 24, Nelsonville, listed satisfactory. An additional injured passenger treated at MSM and moved to University Hospital. Sheriff reports no citations issued. A separate incident involved a fire at an oil well on Ohio 664N behind Bowlby's Motorcycle Sales. The well, owned by Kentucky Drilling, was extinguished on arrival. origin unknown. Another accident on Laurel Run Road at 2:30 a.m. involved Melvin W. Hill, 20, Wellston, whose blow-out caused a ditch and mailbox damage.
Clarence Krumlauf 37 S Culver St is back from Veterans Hospital Dayton after a three week stay as a patient. He arrived home today and resumes his routines.
