City Council held a lengthy session on street problems and opened an ordinance for annexation of 8.31 acres near South Logan. August reports showed the general fund rebounding from a late deficit, with total cash on hand at 80 714.35 and unanimous pension fund appointments were made.
The Rev Fr Charles P Foy announces that St John s Catholic School has 132 pupils this fall, including 72 boys and 60 girls, the highest in several years. Sister Eustella Marie remains sister superior and the cafeteria will open in October run by parish women volunteers.
A seven year old girl in Laurelville has scarlet fever and is reported to the Hocking County health department. A county nurse inspected the home to instruct the parents on isolation and to identify the patient’s contacts.
Judge Rhea Bangert Brown ordered William Bush 19 to 30 days in county jail plus costs after a charge of contributing to delinquency of two Logan boys aged 15 and 7. The boy, 17, with probation for bicycle theft, will have a future hearing. the 15-year-old was placed in a relative's home and must attend school and report weekly to Juvenile Court.
Juvenile Court officer Ralph Blum says the two boys who entered Camp Wyan kitchen early this month and made a snack from camp food acted unofficially. They took nothing, officials did not wish to press charges, and neither boy had prior offenses.
Washington reports the Federal Narcotics Bureau will move into Ohio as a new state law imposes a 20 year minimum for narcotics convictions. Mrs. Rose Schneider aged 80 of Lancaster died at 9 30 a m Tuesday at Lancaster Fairfield Hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage Monday night. She was the widow of Samuel Schneider and survived by three daughters Mrs Robert Winan Mrs John English and Mrs Lloyd Moyer seven grandchildren a great grandchild three sons Clarence Paul and Carl Schneider a brother John Schrader of Logan. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Ray Wise Funeral Home with burial in Forest Rose Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 pm today.
