The 22 year old heiress died from criminal abortion following an elopement to Folkston Georgia.
A fairly strong earthquake struck Algiers, Algeria today, jolting a city of about 400000 residents and causing scattered damage. Local authorities reported no immediate deaths, while emergency crews sweep affected neighborhoods for casualties and assess infrastructure.
The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen summoned bargaining reps from over 130 railroads to a September 21 meeting in Chicago to discuss strategy amid unsatisfactory mediation efforts. Two Marianna boys aged 10 and 11 admitted killing 72-year-old Mrs. Sophia Geren at a Marietta city dump after skipping school and using a 22 caliber rifle. They looted her cabin, fled with $3, two lamps, and then were arrested at a restaurant. The prosecutor cited conflicting statements and未identifed which boy fired.
Columbus Ohio. Robert Moulton, chairman of Ohio's reciprocity board, seeks meetings with Michigan and Illinois to renegotiate motor vehicle agreements. Ohio recently canceled reciprocity accords with most states that did not amend to exclude Ohio's axle mile tax. Delaware Texas and Rhode Island agreed to the amendments.
The Ohio Department of Highways announced low bids on three bridge projects in Hocking County. Falls Mill bridge over the Hocking River on Rt 6645 received a bid of 154,987 from Caulka Industrial Corp of Alliance. Green dale Rd over Kitchen Run and Little Monday Creek drew a bid of 80,933 from Rome Daugherty of Glenford.
