The state highway patrol promotes Ptl. Chester Burlenski of Logan Route 3 to sergeant. Burlenski, on the force 17 years, has served in Hocking County the last 16 months and spent six years at the Athens post. He will begin duties in Portsmouth Monday with wife Edith and sons Bob and Eddie joining later. Ptl. Wayne McGlone will replace Burlenski and move to Hocking County with wife Sue and children Michael and Mellisa, after two years on the force.

Judge Eyes Decision In Rockbridge Incident Case
Judge James Stilwell in Hocking County Court Friday took the case involving a charge of incident with a serious public safety item under advisement. Rick Rosser of Rockbridge filed against George Spry for an incident on Sept 17. Spry says self defense after threats from a beer bottle. A witness said Spry hurt Rosser with two hammers, while others said Rosser's companions hurled adult names at Spry's wife and daughter. Additional charges of incident and battery and young-person mistreatment are pending in county and juvenile court.

Trimble Youth Injured In Haydenville Crash
An 18-year-old Trimble youth was hospitalized at Mount St. Mary Hospital after a four vehicle crash on Route 33 near Haydenville. Witness Candy Brown of Albany said the youth tried to pass three North Union Local school buses, cut in too quickly, and struck a bus then a tractor trailer, but police said only the youth was injured. The truck driver was Carl Poling, 33, of Irwin Ohio. The buses carried band members to an Ohio University football game.
