A Shanghai report says at least 300 Chinese non combatants were killed and 400 injured when Japanese bombers struck Sungkiang station 30 miles from Shanghai. Five crowded refugee cars were blown from the track injuring civilians. the train carried no soldiers.
Washington officials said the state department keeps its ear to the ground in the Sino-Japanese conflict. The policy urges Americans to leave danger zones but preserves U.S. rights in China. Hull declined to comment further. Senator Connally urged Americans to flee danger zones.
Atty. Gen. Herbert S. Duffy said he would oppose in Federal court a motion by CIO attorneys seeking dismissal of the suit to enjoin Gov. Martin L. Davey and officials from sending state troops to open strike hot steel plants. Troops were withdrawn months ago and CIO lawyers warned of the filing at Underwood's court.
A 20 year old school girl admitted after questioning that she fatally shot Paul Reeves a 25 year old father of two when he allegedly assaulted her. Margaret Drennan a Perth Amboy student identified by Woodbridge Township Clerk. Reeves was found nude and dying in his bedroom his children 5 and 2 in adjoining room. Mrs Myra Reeves summoned by police from a Rahway theatre arrived minutes before he died.
Columbus physician attributes fatal fright to a paralysis attack that followed Mrs. Alice Clover's struggle when a youth tried to snatch her purse. The 61 year old succumbed four hours later.

Syracuse report details L. J. Taber master of the National Grange unveiling a 10 point program to aid American farmers. It calls for higher farmer income, expanded markets, long term farm policy, soil and forestry emphasis, tariff use, and stronger rural education and organization.
Fletcher Holt of Cleveland was arrested for reckless driving and said he was headed to a dentist for a toothache. Mayor R E Woleslag, posing as a dentist, examined Holt and fined him 25 dollars after finding no dental issue.
Patrolman Myron Gibson was wounded in a bank robbery near Woodville as 20 year old Robert Jones confessed to the single handed attack. Patrolman Clellan Andress captured Jones after a bare handed struggle amid gunfire, forcing him from the car and securing handcuffs.
Governor Hoffman described the late night encounter as unblowable on his part after Lewis Angelo a former lightweight boxer confronted him at a hotel demanding an interview Angelo, labeled a job seeker, allegedly made several passes but did not strike Hoffman Hoffman accused Angelo of trying to bully his way into a boxing inspector position and said he would not be swayed by the confrontation.
Edward F. McGrady resigns as Assistant Secretary of Labor prompting a second vacancy in Secretary Perkins top aides. He will become labor relations adviser for the Radio Corporation of America in New York City.
Forty four Elyria township pupils, backed by parents, staged sit down protests outside the closed Murray Ridge two room school demanding reopening by the Lorain county board. They refused centralized school transfer and said notice of the change was insufficient.
