Missing since 4 p m Wednesday B F Julian 68 of near Laurelville is sought by Sheriff Joe Farbearn. Family says he may have gone to Columbus to visit relatives. He is 5 ft 10 inches 200 pounds with grey hair blue eyes and a grey mustache. A dark red spot is on his left cheek. Information is requested.
Edith McClure Patterson, member of the Ohio State Liquor Control Board and president of the Dayton Board of Education, says she has no intention of resigning either position. A suggestion arose that Ohio's new liquor law could affect her by prohibiting holding more than one public office.
Adolph M Haendel, 47, of Bayton, was in critical condition with a fractured skull after his car collided with another near Blueball south of Middletown yesterday. The other driver, Lou Watson of Middletown, was not hurt.
The Rag Gerald sewer improvement plan, submitted by Mayor Kenneth Fitzgerald, received presidential approval alongside $4,018,777 in other pro rata funds. If district authorities sign off, the project will install a sanitation system for the Rag Gerald Addition from the fair grounds grandstand south across Route 31 to the river, with Federal funds of 24,838 dollars noted.
Lester Westenbarger Logan was fined 100 dollars for possession of illegal liquor and jailed when he could not pay. Chief Lew Reynolds arrested him. Clyde Canter of Logan was bound over to the grand jury in 200 bond and pleaded not guilty to stealing grocers from Westenbarger.
In New Orleans Huey Long is described as a trade puller amid claims he manipulates commerce. He brushes off rent and money questions saying he travels freely and isn’t tied to wealth, despite assertions.
Carlton Dargusch, vice chairman of the state tax commission, ordered 20 million one cent stamps from state purchasing agent B. Frank Thomas to replenish a depleted stamp supply. A court suit last week had blocked a shipment of 890 million stamps.
Cincinnati dispatch reports August Wolf 80 planned suicide by gas, triggering an explosion that leveled the Wolf home. His son Eddie 34 and mother Anna 76 later recalled threats. three others were hospitalized in critical condition as rescue efforts continued.

St Louis dispatch reports Joseph Meluch surrendered and will be taken back to Lorain Ohio to face murder charges for the beating death of his wife Dorothy whose body was found August 14 in her bedroom. Police chief Theodore Walker travels from Lorain to escort the suspect.
A Cincinnati and Lake Erie Traction car fatally struck an automobile driven by Henry Heil in Rocky River area nine miles west. His wife Helen Heil, 37, of Rocky River, died. she suffered back injuries. Helen Heil was vice president of National Refining Co.
Governor Davey unveiled a four point plan to push a 20 million state building program. He said the plan has federal approval and would create a state building commission authorized to deed lands lease facilities to welfare and education institutions and issue bonds repaid over ten years. The state would not back the bonds. A special session is planned for September 16 with an initial 5 million state appropriation and a 2 million federal grant.
Geneva leaders of the League of Nations failed to reach agreement on appointing a sub-committee to handle the Italo-Ethiopian conflict. Premier Laval and five other nations discussed scope and membership, amid questions over Italy’s exclusion and Ethiopia’s official representation.
Rescued Dixie passengers head home from Miami as captain Captain E Sundstrom remains aboard with a skeleton crew. The Dixie rides at French reef 60 miles south of Miami with 231 passengers ashore and most crew saved. Rescue ships ferry survivors to safety while Arenas and Reaper transport others to Charleston and Wilmington.
New York City police report a burglar who entered Peter F. Vignes's apartment and stole his typewriter then ran up a $119 long distance bill by phoning friends in six cities. Local authorities note the crime involved multiple calls and a swift investigation.
The League of Ohio Sportsmen schedules an autumn convention at Buckeye Lake park for Saturday and Sunday featuring field trials a sporting dog beach show casting and trapshooting. Oliver Hartley of Columbus secretary says 100 affiliated clubs will participate.
Harry D. Hunter vice president of the Dayton malleable iron company died of a heart attack while driving a car with 30 sticks of dynamite. He was killed when the vehicle wrecked near a telephone pole, the dynamite remaining intact. Hunter lived near Yellow Springs and authorities believe he planned blasting on his country estate.
Gas masked crews recovered 144 bodies and 320 veterans were missing from 817 workers in Florida keys camps after a devastating hurricane. Governor Shultz blamed carelessness. Hopkins questioned warnings. Resting at Woodlawn Park, 90 bodies were buried, 42 unidentified, as discussions on cremation were avoided.
Mayor Kenneth Fitzgerald announced that Logan submitted WPA project requests totaling 147000 dollars. Service Director Roy Loomis and WPA Engineer J R Hickey sent the list to Athens district headquarters with expected prompt action. Projects include curb and street repair reservoir city sewer repair and Rachelmacher park improvements. Loomis noted city workers began painting all fire plugs and expect quick completion.
Robert C. Nelson, at odds with authorities over allegedly stolen jewels, requests transfer from the Tombs to a federal jail. He cites disruptive “bugs” at the Tombs as the reason for the move.
