Shaken survivors of the torpedoed British liner Athenia arrived in Greenock Scotland. Many injured, some children orphaned, and reports varied on death toll as rescue operations unfolded and Glasgow prepared hospitals for the refugees.
Charles Ziegler a Hocking County naturalist returned to Logan from Atlanta where he instructed in a boys camp for a week. He previously served at Rockingham North Carolina and worked in 4-H camps across the South. He will resume teaching at Oak Grove school.
The Luther Heyde Quartet Ralph Poston Dale Engle Harry Shaw and Luther Heyde returned from Cincinnati after auditioning at WLW station they impressed board chairman Arthur Chandler Jr and were asked to appear again later Chandler offered prep suggestions They attended Marathon Melodies debut by Standard Oil in the evening accompanied by Mrs Winifred Engle and Dale Engle who visited Mrs Lide Hilgore at the Methodist Home for the Aged on College Hill
Rockbridge now gains an extra northbound bus each weekday with three daily northbound and three southbound runs. The Logan to Rockbridge pass through schedule was approved by C. E. McGinley after talks with Representative Walter E. Brehm. The change serves two Rockbridge girls attending business college at Lancaster.
