The Dixie was marooned after a hurricane near the Florida Keys. By Tuesday morning the last of 1423 passengers was transferred as rescuers from three ships completed the removal. Captain E W Sundstrom remained aboard with a skeleton crew to keep possession of the vessel.

Ohio liquor law expands hours under new act
Columbus Ohio AP reports that new regulations under the amended liquor act allow liquor sellers to stay open until 2 30 a m daily and Sundays without local closing ordinances. Night club permits are eliminated and hotels restaurants must obtain a $400 permit to stay open after midnight. Night clubs previously could stay open until 2 30 a m. All closed Saturday midnight.

Doric Passengers to Safety After Portugal Collision
The Cunard White Star liner Doric, nicknamed the Cupid Ship, collided 70 miles off Portugal with the French freighter Formigny.
