Vocational School Reports 530 Enrolled On Opening Day
A total of 530 students reported for opening day classes at the Tri County Vocational School near Nelsonville, 130 more than last year. Some absences were blamed on bus trouble. The school, now fully complete, expects fluctuating enrollment in coming weeks as high school students decide between attending their own schools or the vocational program. Near capacity enrollment is anticipated at Tri County Technical Institute when classes start September 15, with 100 students in a three week math and science refresher program and openings in most of the 12 associate degree programs offered. The rural Appalachian school is expanding with new classrooms, a nursing lab, wildlife and forestry lab, and a design lab. Students may pursue a two year associate degree in technical fields at any of the 12 programs.
