Heavy rains flood streams and put channels back under strain as five ships resume rescue operations. Traffic slows as crews coordinate through blocked routes and officials issue safety advisories.
After two days of intermittent rain the Hocking River and local creeks overflowed, closing Route 31 and making Route 75 near Ed Turner farm nearly impassable. Route 31 reopened by midnight as floodwaters receded enough for travel.
In Geneva on September 4 the Italo-Ethiopian dispute saw France and Great Britain align on a peace path. Before the League of Nations council met, the British delegation announced that Eden and Laval drafted the report together and that the text should satisfy the Italians.
A bakery truck hit a pole, snapping it and causing a live wire to fall. Mark Spray, 28, near Millville, stepped on the energized line and died from burns. His wife, attempting to help, was shocked and knocked to the ground.

Seven months old Charles H. Weston, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Weston of Suburban Terrace Park, died after a nurse tripped over a dog and Fell August 24. Coroner F P M Coppock reported the fatal fall occurred in Cincinnati.

Joseph S. Myers of Dayton petitions Chicago circuit court for custody of his six year old son Robert Lee from Ervin J. Lang's parents. Myers asserts custody was awarded to Mrs Mallie Meyers Lang’s former wife whom Myers divorced in Dayton in 1931.
Walter Scott Worley twenty four year old truck driver for an Eaton produce firm was killed when his vehicle sideswiped another last night on the western edge of Eaton Ohio. H P Bowman of Indianapolis driver of the other truck escaped injury.
Ohio Bell Tele phone Company will spend about 3 million dollars this year in Ohio on rebuilding rehabilitation and additions to plants. Local exchanges in Akron Columbus Miamisburg Findlay Marietta Washington DC and Painesville receive specified funds for reconstruction plant renewal and line improvements including underground conduits and pole replacements.
William West of Morris Plan Bank reports burglars blasted open a branch vault last night and fled with roughly 6000 in cash. Detective Captain Story notes it is the first bank burglary here in years and the second major break in two days following a Pocahontas Oil Corp. office raid that netted about 10000.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Charles Chick Hafey was placed on the voluntary retired list today. Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Landis ruled Hafey would not be counted on the team’s playing roster.
Cleveland Ohio September 4. The national association of letter carriers approved a resolution mandating that carriers walk only on provided walks. It notes no rule for crossing lawns or properties and cites criticism, ruined uniforms, and hazards from trespassing as problems. A delegate estimated the extra steps involved.
Mrs. Nellie Pollwine Kelsey is charged with false pretense for applying to and receiving federal relief totaling 18.75 dollars weekly from the Industrial Commission of Ohio since March 1934. Federal investigator Richard Pfeffer claims her husband found work in the city welfare department. she had previously been awarded 6500 dollars by the commission in 1929 after her first husband died.
Northern Ohio Milk Producers and distributors conclude a five hour session without agreement. Producers seek $2 per hundredweight for class 1 milk and $1.40 for class 2 milk in price increases.
Fayette County commissioners granted permission for Washington C. H. to secede from Union Township and establish a new township in a development dated Sept. 4. The move creates a distinct local government jurisdiction for the area.
Ohio marchers led by the Ohio Unemployed League met Governor Davey in Columbus after a relief march to the state capitol. He pledged to forward their unemployment relief program to a special legislative session and said he would call lawmakers in about ten days.

A wife’s effort to stop her husband from gambling on Sunday prompted police to raid two alleged gambling dens in Urbana. Fifteen men were apprehended as officers investigated the scene and considered charges.
