AP reports a night club blaze in downtown Montreal after fire bombs were thrown into the Blue Bird Cafe. Police say three men were detained as witnesses describe a gray car departure and patrons fleeing amid smoke, heat, and a collapsing fire escape.
Officials moved to halt hog cholera across Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. In Ohio, nearly 1 500 animals have been killed, with six more herds slaughtered in Van Wert County and Greene Clinton and Darke counties. Kentucky reported no new cases in three days.
The Ohio Department of Liquor Control suspended the C-1 and C-2 liquor permits of Laura Poling doing business as East End Carry-Out at 685 E Front St for seven days for selling wine or malt liquor to a minor on Nov 12 1971. The penalty execution was stayed until Nov 11 1972. if no further violations occur, the suspension will be remitted automatically.
Columbus Ohio AP The Ohio Youth Commission plans to transform the Zaleski Youth Clinic in Vinton County into a training academy for youth workers and relocate the current 40 residents to other institutions early next year.

In five Ohio counties Montgomery Greene Miami Darke and Preble a U S Law Enforcement Administration survey found 86 percent want tougher courts on criminals and 95 percent support more police patrols with 3000 respondents.
Supreme Court Justice Lewis F Powell limited a July education bill’s stay on desegregation orders. He said the stay provision applies only to attempts at racial balance and not to all desegregation orders. The ruling affects Augusta Georgia and could boost Senate anti busing efforts plus a constitutional amendment awaiting action.
