In San Diego area police hunted a sex motivated killer after Ruth Muir a 48 year old social worker and former San Antonio society girl was found slain on La Jolla Beach. Investigators questioned over twenty men arrested on morals charges as potential suspects before dawn.

Van Wert Ohio AP prosecutor said he will seek a first degree murder indict ment against 28 year old Loris Longanecker. A written confession described breaking into the house with a wrecking bar and killing 85 year old Mrs Mary Jane Woodruff after an hour of questioning. Sheriff said Sunday School methods helped obtain the admission. He claimed he went haywire and did not know why.
Hamilton police barred from testing two robbery suspects after the lie detector malfunctions during their Cincinnati visit. The device broke while investigators sought to verify the suspects' statements amid ongoing questions about the case.
The Osservatore Romano branded Father Charles E. Mrs. Mary Ann Smith, widow of Henry Smith and daughter of Mrs. Suzanne Devore, died after ingesting an insecticide mistaken for a laxative. She took the powder Tuesday afternoon, grew ill, and died at 4 30 a.m. at City Hospital. She leaves a sister Mrs. Belle Flood and a brother John Devore. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 p.m. at her home with burial in Forest Rose Cemetery.
The Bureau of Air Commerce reports the April 7 Uniontown PA crash that killed 12 people was caused by poor judgment by Pilot Otto Ferguson of Kansas City Missouri. Secretary Roper released the finding, stating the incident resulted from the pilot's error.
